Audrey Leduc arrived at the Bell Track and Field Trials without a podium finish, let alone an individual title in her career at the Canadian national championships.

The 25-year-old sprinter left the Sports Complex of Claude-Robillard in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with a pair of national titles Sunday and the country’s first sweep of the women’s 100 and 200 championships since 2021.

Leduc clocked a wind-aided 22.71 seconds to prevail in the 200 final, following a wind-legal 11.20 effort Friday in the 100. She also achieved a wind-legal 11.09 performance Friday in the 100 prelims.

Zoe Sherar, the 400 champion, edged Jacqueline Madogo by a 22.944 to 22.947 margin for second.

Leduc, who finished fourth in the 100 and seventh in the 200 at the Canadian Championships a year ago, became the country’s first female athlete since Crystal Emmanuel-Ahye at the 2021 Trials to achieve the sprint double.

Aaron Brown won the men’s 200 final in a wind-aided 20.09 for his sixth career national title in the event and 12th Canadian crown overall, including the 100.

Brendon Rodney was runner-up in 20.34, with Jerome Blake taking third in 20.41.

Kieran Lumb, a former Washington standout, held off Charles Philibert-Thiboutot by a 3:45.10 to 3:45.29 margin in the men’s 1,500 final, with Foster Malleck placing third in 3:46.34.

Lumb took the lead on the third lap and managed to secure the victory, despite a late surge from Philibert-Thiboutot.

Lucia Stafford triumphed in the women’s 1,500 championship race in 4:10.14, covering the final lap with a 59.9-second split.

Kate Current was runner-up in 4:12.62 and former Utah star Simone Plourde took third in 4:13.45.

Sage Walker returned to compete in the 400-meter hurdles at the Canadian Championships for the first time in five years and secured her fourth career title in 55.94. Walker missed the entire 2023 season rehabilitating from injury.

Brooke Overholt, a former Vanderbilt standout, placed second in 57.64.

Malik Metivier, a Texas Tech competitor, clocked 50.15 to emerge victorious in the men’s 400 hurdles, with Justin Rose finishing second in 50.96.

Alexia Schofield and Busola Akinduro both produced marks of 42-6 (12.95m) in the women’s triple jump final, but Campbellsville University standout Schofield captured the title based on a stronger second effort of 42-1.25 (12.83m) in comparison to Akinduro at 41-9.75 (12.74m).

Olorunfemi Akinduro won the men’s triple jump crown with a fourth-round performance of 53-0.75 (16.17m), edging Daxx Turner at 52-11.50 (16.14m).

Mark Bujnowski triumphed in the men’s shot put final with a fifth-round effort of 62-10 (19.15m), with discus throw winner Youssef Koudssi taking second at 61-7.75 (18.79m).

Madisson Lawrence captured the women’s heptathlon championship with 5,566 points, culminating with a victory in the 800 meters in 2:13.28.

Hannah Blair secured second with 5,423 points.
