April Fontenette, a UCLA-bound senior at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High in California, won the girls invitational discus throw with a 153-1 (46.65m) performance in the fifth round at the 55th Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High in California. Fontenette rebounded from three fouls in the invitational shot put to secure a come-from-behind victory in the discus, including prevailing against reigning California state champion Nailea Fields of Caruthers High and her sixth-round effort of 152-10 (46.58m).
