Championship Programs Look to Make Their Mark on Hayward Field, April 19-20

EUGENE, Ore. - The battle to win the Co-ed Team Championship at the Oregon Relays presented by AthleticNET just became even more challenging, as national championship squads Cuthbertson (NC) and Herriman (UT) have been added to the team line-up at Hayward Field on April 19-20

Cuthbertson heads to Eugene after a record-breaking performance at New Balance Nationals Indoor in Boston. Cuthbertson’s girls 4xMile and Distance Medley Relay squads crushed the national record in each event by a whopping 15 seconds a piece, winning the 4xMile in 19:22.70 and the DMR in 11:17.50

“We are so excited to head to Eugene for this year’s Oregon Relays,” says Cuthbertson head coach Dustin Allen. “Giving our kids the opportunity to run at the best facility in the world is so exciting and we can’t wait to represent our school and our state at the meet. We had an amazing indoor season that included two national records and at Hayward anything is possible."

Herriman is poised to challenge for the Co-Ed Team Championship at the Oregon Relays on the  strength of their boys distance squad. Herriman won the boys championship title at Nike Cross Nationals in December, besting fellow Utah powerhouse American Fork 83-100 and running a mere 27 second 1-5 split.

"We are beyond excited to compete in the Oregon Relays this year,” says Herriman head coach Doug Soles. “We recognize the caliber of meet it has become, and we want our athletes in the best stadiums versus the best competition each year. The Oregon Relays really provides us that opportunity, and we will do everything we can to bring a focused and competitive group."

With one month to go until the Oregon Relays, entries are pouring in and national-caliber squads are setting their line-ups as they vie for the Co-ed Team Championship trophy and the fun-filled champions pizza party.

For those programs who’ve yet to register, registration is open for individual high school athletes and high school and middle school relay teams. Teams can register relay squads in the All-Comers 4x100, 4x400, 1600m SMR, and DMR events, while individual athletes can register in any event in which they have hit the qualifying standard.
