The junior from William Floyd High in Shirley, N.Y. lowered her mile personal best by six seconds while winning the seeded girls mile on Friday night at the Trials of Miles at Icahn. Macchia ran US#6 4:41.37 to beat a strong field that included six girls running sub-4:45. Charlotte Bell (Cuthbertson NC) ran US#8 4:42.07 for second place and Rachel Forsyth (Ann Arbor Pioneer MI) was third in US#9 4:42.54. In one of the most anticipated races of the Trials of Miles at Icahn, the boys seeded mile, Indiana's Martin Barco (Martinsville IN) beat Clay Shively (Trinity Academy KS), with US#4 4:02.94. Shively was second in US#6 4:04.03. Third-place finisher Marcus Reilly (Northbridge MA) ran US#8 4:05.07. Brendan Herger of Northville MI ran his second lap in 54.21 and moved to US#1 in the boys 800 meters with 1:49.44. Olivia Cieslak of Haverford Township PA won the girls 800 meters in 2:05.05. Behind her, Clemmie Lilley of Rumson-Fair Haven NJ ran a personal best 2:06.67 for US#9. And Allison DeLisi from Penn Charter PA was third with 2:06.97. Travis Mahoney won the men's 1,500 meters in 3:46.62. Skylyn Webb, representing Saucony, won the women's 1,500 in 4:14.65. Eric Hamer of the BAA won the men's 5,000 meters in 13:50.35 and was one of seven men under 14 minutes. Anna Oeser from Battle Road Track Club took the lead on the final lap and won the women's 5,000 in 15:44.09. Elena Hayday from Georgetown Running Club was second in 15:44.91.
